Intern Problems

It is only the second day of my internship at IMG and I am already so in love and obsessed I don't ever want it to end. My first day I was just getting acquainted with the people, the office, and most importantly the models. I literally got chills and had to hold back tears and I walked into the office. Through a huge wooden door is 25 tables and computers and agents hard at work with the NYC sun shinning in through the massive windows that look out towards the skyline. Everything is so open it is a complete dream. Seeing the massive amounts of pictures of all the models on the walls and through the entire office makes it all even better. Not only are the people beautiful, but their style. Each person in the office has a unique style and represents themselves so differently. From denim, to neon, to all black I was in my complete vision of heaven.
Yesterday was my second day and it was enough to kill me. I started off by arriving at the office at 9. I watched models come in and out to meet with their agents, updated a couple of portfolios and then the real task came. I was asked to escort a model to all of her castings because she isn't familiar with the city.....little did they know neither was I. Together we went an adventure, she didn't speak much English, and I didn't know what the L or the M or the Uptown 3 was. Or where 14th and 3rd avenue was. Long story short I ended up taking a 15 year old Polish model who BARELY spoke English all over Manhattan and Brooklyn for about 5 hours. We rode countless subways, walked at least 100 miles total, and became extremely close extremely fast. I cannot begin to explain the impact she had on me, and how I look at fashion.

I took her to the infamous Milk studios so she could meet with major major clients that I knew all about, but she had no idea. To her this was just another day nothing phases her, she is so timid and shy, but when she is in front of that camera she gives them exactly what they wanted and I WAS SO PROUD! We talked about her home, her cats, her parents, and how her best friends miss her. This girl is so young and yet has so much going that she probably does not even realize. After a long day of castings I then took her to her "modeling lessons" when I asked her what they were going to do with her she said, "I don't know maybe teach me what a model does". If she even knew you can't be taught, you just have it, and she definitely has it. I kept calling her my little Weronika( pronounced Veronica), and she thought I was a crazy crazy American girl. She couldn't believe I was 21 she thought I was her age! This girl is going to be big one day and I can't wait to watch her grow. She is the perfect McQueen meets Wang type of androgynous girl. If anyone has shown me what hard work is it is this little girl and I have her to thank for showing me real passion.
